Los Angeles is the second largest city in the US and the largest city in the state of California. Supporting a population of around 3.83 million, the city is one of the most densely populated areas in the whole of the US. In fact, the city is the 14th largest urban area in the world.

First founded in September 1781, the city became part of Mexico in 1821, following the independence from Spain. The city was incorporated as a municipality on 4th April 1850, just 5 months before California achieved its statehood.

Today it’s known as the City of Angels and is an iconic world business center for business, international trade, entertainment, media and culture, amongst other things. A thriving economy and moderate climate make it a hotbed for tourists but just what is it about Los Angeles that makes it so attractive? Here are my top 5 reasons for visiting Los Angeles.

1. Los Angeles is one of the most economically powerful cities in the world – it’s the 8th most powerful in the world and the third most powerful in America after New York City and Chicago.

2. The office space in the city in some of the best in the world. LA space is home to 6 of the Fortune 500 companies. Major tenants in the city’s office space include CB Richard Ellis, 20th Century Fox, Capital Group and Fox Sports Net.

3. The city is home to Hollywood – the top place to spot celebrities. Take a walk on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or wander around in amazement at a range of amazing studios found in and around Hollywood.

4. The city has lots of great landmarks. These include Little Tokyo, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Sign and the Kodak Theater. All of which are definitely worth a visit.

5. Los Angeles has a thriving culture – in fact it’s even been billed as the “Creative Capital of the World”. 1 in 6 of the city’s residents work in the creative industries, which makes it ideal for anybody looking for a bit of creative inspiration.
